Expecting a baby is one of the most exciting and emotional seasons of life. There’s joy, anticipation, nervousness, excitement—and often a million feelings all at once. Whether you're welcoming your first baby or your fourth, every pregnancy and every growing family has a story worth remembering.

As a St. Louis maternity and newborn photographer, one of my favorite things is having the opportunity to document that story from pregnancy through baby's first days.

This beautiful St. Louis family invited me to capture their journey through a maternity session, Fresh 48 hospital session, and newborn photography session. Each session told a different part of their story, from waiting for baby to finally bringing their newest family member home.

Their maternity session was filled with warmth, connection, and excitement. You could feel how deeply this baby was already loved—not only by Mom and Dad, but by the entire family. Big siblings were especially excited about welcoming their new baby, and their personalities and anticipation became such a sweet part of the session.

Maternity photography in St. Louis is about so much more than documenting a growing baby bump. It's about remembering who your family was in those final weeks before everything changed.

Fresh 48 Photography in St. Louis: Baby's First Beautiful Hours

After baby arrived, I had the privilege of photographing this family's Fresh 48 session.

Fresh 48 photography takes place during the first day or two after birth, usually while the family is still at the hospital. These sessions document those incredibly fleeting first moments without the posing or structure of a traditional newborn session.

Tiny wrinkled fingers. Sleepy yawns. Hospital bracelets. That little bassinet beside Mom's bed. The first snuggles and the moment older siblings finally meet the baby they've been waiting for.

This family's St. Louis Fresh 48 session was filled with quiet love and tender connection. Watching everyone soak in their newest family member was beautiful, and I'm so grateful I was able to preserve those memories for them.

Their newborn photography session was the perfect continuation of their story.

By this point, baby was home and everyone was beginning to settle into their new roles. The session was calm, cozy, and centered around connection. Seeing the older siblings interact so gently and excitedly with their new baby was especially sweet.

My approach to newborn photography in St. Louis focuses on the relationships that make this season so meaningful. Along with capturing all of baby's tiny details, I want to document the way Mom holds them, the way Dad looks at them, the sibling snuggles, and all of the little interactions that make your family uniquely yours.

These are the things that change far too quickly.
